Why cargo comes here
Focus CFS has handled cargo through the Port of Mombasa for 18 years. Almost everything that reaches Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan or eastern DRC by sea passes through this port first — and what happens in the days after discharge decides whether a shipment runs to plan.
The station sits at Kipevu, Changamwe — inside the port's immediate hinterland and on the road corridor cargo already takes inland.
KRA, KEBS and Kenya Police are located within the facility, so verification happens where the cargo is standing rather than somewhere else.
Container storage, the motor vehicle terminal and covered warehousing are separate areas, not shared ground competing for the same equipment.

Process
Cargo documentation is undertaken prior to vessel arrival, so clearance is not waiting on paperwork.
Manifested cargo is transferred from the Port of Mombasa to the Focus CFS yard.
Cargo is received through manned entry gates, recorded, and positioned by cargo type.
KRA, KEBS and Kenya Police carry out verification within the facility.
Containers are stored, or stripped into the LCL area with inventory held in the warehouse management system.
Cleared cargo is released against a valid gate pass for transfer from the CFS.
Infrastructure
Primary facility
The container storage area is segregated from the motor vehicle yard, with handling capacity of 5,000 TEUs. Keeping the two apart means handling equipment, truck movements and storage are organised by cargo type rather than competing for the same ground.
A dedicated car terminal with capacity to handle 3,000 units, run by a team assigned specifically to vehicle operations. Vehicles are received over their own secured ramp rather than through the container gate.
Covered warehousing handles deconsolidation and storage. Containers are stripped and cargo transferred to the Less Container Load area, with a warehouse management system maintaining inventory throughout.
Container and heavy cargo handling is carried out with reach stackers suited to full container loads as well as project and out-of-gauge consignments.
Security
The entire facility is enclosed by a perimeter wall carrying electric fencing.
Movement of vehicles and containers within the station is monitored by camera.
Access control at the gates is through manned security who vet all persons accessing the facility.
All persons entering the yard use a separated pedestrian walkway, away from handling equipment.
Yard supervisor and security offices are positioned at the entry and exit gates.
Cargo leaves only against a valid gate pass and verified documentation.
